TWA Flight 847

TWA Flight 847 was a super big airplane, like a flying bus, that was supposed to fly from a city called Cairo all the way to San Diego in America. It had lots of stops along the way, kind of like a school bus picking up kids from different neighborhoods. But one day, something very unexpected happened right after it took off from a city called Athens.

Instead of flying to its next stop, the plane was taken over by people who wanted to make a big statement. They made the plane fly to different cities, like Beirut and Algiers, over and over again. This wasn't a planned trip; it was a very long and scary journey for everyone on board. The plane flew around for a whole 17 days!

During this long trip, some passengers were tied up and treated unkindly. The people in charge of the plane were looking for passengers with certain names. Sadly, one brave person, a diver named Robert Stethem, was hurt and his body was put on the ground at an airport. It was a very difficult time for everyone on that plane.

Finally, after many days, the people on the plane were let go. The people who took control of the plane had made demands, and some of those demands were met. It was a relief for everyone to be safe again. This event showed how important it is for planes to be safe places for everyone to travel.
