Meet the Super Bridge!

The Triborough Bridge is like a superhighway that flies over the water! It’s actually three bridges connected together, and it helps cars zoom between three important places in New York City: Manhattan, Queens, and Randall's Island. It's so big, it’s like a giant metal snake winding its way through the sky. When it was built, it was a huge project, like building a whole new playground for cars!

How Did This Giant Get Built?

Building this bridge was a super big job that started a long, long time ago, way back in 1929. It took many years and lots of hard work from many people to put all the pieces together. Think about building with LEGOs, but imagine the LEGOs were as big as buses and you had to lift them way up high! It was a tricky puzzle to solve, connecting all the different parts over the busy water.

Why We Need This Bridge!

This bridge is super important because it helps people get around New York City really fast. Without it, it would take much longer to travel between the different parts of the city. It’s like having a shortcut that saves you lots of time. It also helps trucks bring things to stores and helps people get to fun places like parks and stadiums. It connects people and places!

Bridge's Amazing Powers!

The Triborough Bridge has some cool tricks! It's not just one bridge, but three different ones: the Triborough Bridge itself, the Harlem River Lift Bridge, and the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center Bridge. It’s also really tall, with its highest point being as tall as a 17-story building! That’s taller than many trees and even taller than a giraffe can reach!
