Timothy Dolan

Imagine a very important leader, like a principal for a whole city! That's kind of like Timothy Dolan. He's the Archbishop of New York, which means he's in charge of many Catholic churches and the people who go to them in that big city.

He also became a Cardinal, which is an even bigger honor in the Catholic Church. He's been doing this important job since 2009, helping people with their faith and guiding them.

Timothy Dolan wasn't always the Archbishop of New York. He started his journey in the church in different places. First, he was a leader at a special school in Rome, Italy, where priests study.

Then, he became a helper bishop in St. Louis, and after that, he was the main bishop in Milwaukee. Finally, he got the big job in New York!

When Timothy Dolan became a Cardinal, it meant he could do something really special: help choose the next Pope! The Pope is the head of the entire Catholic Church, and when the old Pope retires or passes away, Cardinals get together to pick a new one. He helped choose Pope Francis and even helped choose Pope Leo XIV!
