Key Facts
Venezuela's Second Chance!
Once upon a time, Venezuela was fighting to be free! After a big fight called the Venezuelan War of Independence, a new government was declared in 1817. This was like giving the country a second chance to be a republic, a place where people have a say. It was called the Third Republic of Venezuela. Think of it like getting a new, exciting game to play after the old one got a bit tricky.
A New Beginning in Angostura!
The leaders of Venezuela decided to start fresh in a city called Angostura. They brought back the idea of having a government chosen by the people. This was a really important step because it showed they were serious about building a country where everyone's voice could be heard. It was like rebuilding a favorite playground with all new swings and slides!
A Surprise Ending!
This new republic was super exciting, but it didn't last forever. In 1819, something big happened. The leaders decided to join Venezuela with another country called New Granada to create an even bigger country called Gran Colombia. So, the Third Republic of Venezuela became part of something new, like merging two awesome LEGO sets into one giant creation!
Venezuela's Own Story
Even though the Third Republic joined Gran Colombia, Venezuela didn't forget its own identity. Later on, in 1830, Venezuela became its own independent country again. This shows that even when things change, a country's spirit can stay strong. It’s like how you might join a new club, but you’re still you, with all your unique talents and ideas.
