Key Facts
Where is the Bronx?
Imagine New York City as a giant puzzle! The Bronx is the piece way up north, like the top of your head. It's the only part of the city mostly on the big land, not on an island.
It has a river called the Bronx River that splits it into a hilly side and a flat side. To the south, you can see Manhattan across another river, and Queens is on the other side of a different river to the east. It's a busy place with lots of people!
Parks, Animals, and Old Trees!
Guess what? The Bronx has HUGE parks! Van Cortlandt Park is so big you could play soccer for days!
And there's the Bronx Zoo, where you can see lions, tigers, and even giant pandas. There's also the New York Botanical Garden, which has trees that are older than your grandparents, and even older than that! These green spots are like the lungs of the city, giving everyone a place to breathe and play.
A Place with a Long Story
A long, long time ago, a man named Jonas Bronck came and built the first houses here. Then, many people from different countries came to live in the Bronx. They brought their own music, food, and traditions, making the Bronx a colorful and exciting place. It's like a giant potluck where everyone shares something special!
Home of Fun and Games!
The Bronx is famous for many things, including Yankee Stadium, where amazing baseball games happen! It's also where hip hop music got its start, with catchy beats and cool rhymes that make you want to dance. This place has seen lots of changes, from quiet farms to a bustling city, and it's always full of energy and new ideas.
