He was one of the 'Black Pharaohs,' meaning he came from Nubia, a land south of Egypt. Think of him as a powerful leader from a different land who came to rule a famous kingdom.
A King From Far Away!
Taharqa came from the Kingdom of Kush, a place south of Egypt, in what is now Sudan. This kingdom was known for its strong rulers. Taharqa was so powerful that he became the pharaoh of Egypt, a land famous for its pyramids and mummies.
