The Big Meeting After the Big Fight!

After a giant war called World War II ended, the leaders of three powerful countries got together. Their names were Joseph Stalin from the Soviet Union, Winston Churchill and then Clement Attlee from the United Kingdom, and Harry S. Truman from the United States.

They met in a place called Potsdam, in Germany, to figure out how to make the world peaceful again. It was like a big team meeting to clean up after a huge mess and make sure everyone played fair in the future.

Who Was There and What Did They Talk About?

These leaders were like the captains of their teams. They had to decide what to do with Germany, which had surrendered. They talked about how to share Germany into different parts, like sharing a giant pizza.

They also discussed making new rules for countries and how to fix things that the war had broken. It was super important because their decisions would affect millions of people and the whole world for a long time.

A Secret Surprise!

While they were talking, President Truman got some amazing news. The scientists had made a super powerful new kind of bomb, called an atomic bomb! It was like discovering a superpower.

Truman told Stalin a little bit about it, but Stalin already knew because spies had told him! This secret weapon would change how wars were fought forever, and it was a big deal that they were talking about it right then.

Making Plans for the Future

The leaders made some big decisions. They agreed to split Germany into four parts for different countries to look after. They also decided where the border of Poland should be. It was like drawing new lines on a map. Even though they had disagreements, they worked together to try and build a better world. This meeting helped set the stage for how countries would get along after the war.
