Planetarium

Imagine a giant, round room like a giant ball turned upside down! That's a planetarium. Inside, a special projector shines pictures of stars, planets, and even faraway galaxies onto the big dome ceiling. It's like having your very own universe right above your head! You can see the sky as it looks at night, even if it's daytime outside.

How do all those stars appear? A clever machine, sometimes called a 'star ball' or a fancy projector, shoots light through tiny holes that look like stars. It can make the stars move, just like they do in the real sky! It can even show you what the sky looks like from different places on Earth or from long, long ago.

Planetariums are super cool because they teach us about space without us having to leave Earth! You can learn about the planets in our solar system, discover new constellations, and even imagine traveling to distant stars. It's a fun way to become a space explorer and learn amazing facts about the universe.

Some planetariums are HUGE! The biggest one in Russia has a dome as wide as a big playground. Others are smaller, and some are even portable, like a big tent you can set up anywhere. They are built to show us the wonders of the night sky in the most exciting way possible.
