Otto von Habsburg was born a prince a super long time ago, in 1912! He was the son of the Emperor and Empress of Austria-Hungary, a huge country. When his dad became Emperor, Otto was next in line to be king! But then, his country changed, and he never got to wear the crown. Even though he didn't become king, he was still super important and had a very interesting life.
A Royal Life on the Move!
Otto's family had to leave their home when he was just a little boy. He grew up in many different countries, like Spain and the United States. It was like moving to a new school every few years!
He was raised to be a leader, learning about history and how to help people. He even had special passports from places like the Knights of Malta because he didn't have a country to call his own for a while.

When Otto was a grown-up, he didn't like bad ideas like Nazism or communism, which were like bullies trying to take over. He wanted countries to work together and be friends. He was like a superhero for peace! He even helped start a big meeting called the Pan-European Picnic, which was a step towards countries in Eastern Europe becoming free.

Otto spent many years working to make Europe a place where countries cooperate. He was part of a group that wanted countries to be united. He even sat in the European Parliament, which is like a big meeting place for leaders from many countries. He believed that by working together, Europe could be stronger and more peaceful for everyone.
