Ontario

Imagine Canada is a giant map. Ontario is like the middle part, but a little bit down towards the bottom. It's so big that it touches five different states in the United States!

To the west, it has a friendly neighbor called Manitoba, and to the east is Quebec. To the north, it's bordered by chilly waters called Hudson Bay and James Bay. Most of the people live in the southern part, where it's warmer and there are big cities like Toronto.

Ontario is the most popular place in all of Canada! More people live here than in any other Canadian province. Think of a big school bus filled with kids – Ontario has enough people to fill millions and millions of those buses! The biggest city, Toronto, is like the super-busy heart of Ontario, and it's also where Canada's capital city, Ottawa, is located. It's a place buzzing with activity!

Ontario is famous for its amazing water! It has so many lakes and rivers that they make up most of the border it shares with the United States. These aren't just little puddles; they are the famous Great Lakes! You can almost walk across the border on bridges made of water. There's only a tiny bit of actual land you have to walk over, like a short path between two lakes.

In the southern part of Ontario, where most people live, many grown-ups work in factories making things. It's a busy place for building cars and other cool stuff. Up north, it's much quieter with lots of forests and cold winters. People there often work with trees, cutting them down to make wood, or digging in the ground to find important rocks and metals. It's a land of different jobs!
