The University of Toronto, or U of T as friends call it, is like a super-duper big school where smart people go to learn all sorts of amazing things. A long, long time ago, in 1827, a very important person named Sir John Colborne decided Canada needed a great place for people to learn. So, he helped start this university! It wasn't always called U of T.

It started as King's College, and it was a bit like a baby university back then. Over many years, it grew and changed, adding more buildings and more subjects to study. It became the huge and famous university it is today, helping shape Canada and the world!
