Where the Magic Happened!

This amazing city was built right on the edge of Europe, where a narrow sea called the Bosporus strait flows. It's like a super-duper important doorway between two big continents! The emperor who built it wanted it to be a fantastic new home for his empire, kind of like picking the best spot on a map for a new playground.

From Tiny Town to Big City!

Long, long ago, a small group of people started a little town here. But then, a very powerful leader named Emperor Constantine had a HUGE idea! He decided to rebuild this town into a magnificent new capital city, even bigger and grander than before. He called it 'New Rome' because he wanted it to be just as important as the original Rome.

A Name Change Adventure!

Emperor Constantine first called his new city 'New Rome'. But he loved it so much, he soon changed its name to Constantinople, which means 'City of Constantine'. It was like giving his favorite toy a new, special name! Later on, the city got another new name, Istanbul, which is what we call it today.

Why It Was So Special

This city was special because it became the new heart of the Roman Empire. It was a place where important decisions were made and where people from all over came to trade and live. Even today, a part of its old name, 'New Rome', is still used by a religious leader there!
