Meet the Big Christian Family!

Christendom is like a super-big family of people who follow Jesus. It's not just one place, but all over the world! Think of it as a huge group of friends who share the same beliefs.

This group started a very, very long time ago, when Jesus's teachings began to spread from a place called the Levant. It grew and grew, like a snowball rolling down a hill, and now it includes millions and millions of people!

Where Did They All Come From?

Long ago, people started sharing stories about Jesus in a place called the Levant. These stories traveled all the way to Europe and North Africa, which were part of the big Roman Empire back then. As Christianity spread, the big Christian family started to split into two main groups, like two branches on a tree.

One group was in the West, centered around Rome, and the other was in the East, centered around a city called Constantinople. Later, a third big group, called Protestantism, popped up too!

Why Is Christendom So Cool?

Christendom has been around for about 2,000 years, which is a super long time! During all that time, people in Christendom built amazing things like huge churches and beautiful art. They also wrote wonderful stories and poems, and even came up with smart ideas in science and thinking.

So, Christendom isn't just about beliefs, it's also about all the cool stuff people created because of those beliefs!

A World of Christians!

Today, Christendom means countries where lots of people are Christian. It's like a global club! For a very long time, especially after the Western group became super important, many countries in Europe were part of what we call 'Latin Christendom'. Even though the world is very diverse now, the ideas and art from Christendom's long history are still around us everywhere!
