Neolithic Revolution
Key Facts
From Nomads to Neighbors!
Long, long ago, people didn't live in houses or towns. They were like super-explorers, always moving around to find food. They hunted animals and gathered berries and nuts.
This way of life is called being a nomad. But then, something HUGE happened! People started learning how to grow their own food, like wheat and barley.
They also learned how to tame animals like sheep and cows. This big change is called the Neolithic Revolution. It means 'New Stone Age' because people started using new kinds of stone tools too!
Planting Seeds of Change!
How did people start farming? It was like a big science experiment! They noticed that seeds dropped on the ground grew into new plants.
So, they started planting seeds on purpose in places where they wanted food to grow. They also learned to keep animals close by so they had a steady supply of milk, meat, and wool. This meant they didn't have to move around as much.
They could build villages and stay in one place. It was like going from a camping trip to building your own house!
Why It's a Super Big Deal!
This change was like a superpower for humans! Because they had more food, more babies could survive and grow up. People started living together in villages, which grew into towns and then cities.
They could share ideas and work together on big projects, like building houses or making tools. It also meant some people could do jobs other than finding food, like making pottery or clothes. This was the start of everything we have today, like schools, shops, and even your favorite toys!
The Dawn of Villages!
Before the Neolithic Revolution, people lived in small, wandering groups. After this big change, they started building permanent homes. These homes were often made from mud bricks or stones.
Villages popped up in places with good soil for farming and water nearby. People learned to store food, which was super important for surviving the winter or when food was scarce. This new way of living together in villages was the first step towards the world we live in now.
