Where Did They Come From?

A long, long time ago, from 1232 to 1492, a special family called the Nasrid dynasty ruled a part of Spain called Granada. They were the very last Muslim rulers in all of Spain! For almost 260 years, 23 different rulers, called sultans, took turns leading their kingdom. It was a very long time, much longer than you've been alive!

The Amazing Alhambra Palace!

The most famous thing the Nasrids built is a breathtaking palace called the Alhambra. It's like a giant, beautiful castle with amazing gardens and fountains. It's so big and fancy, it's like a whole city inside a palace! Today, people from all over the world visit to see how beautiful it is. It shows us how skilled the Nasrid builders were.

The Big Change

After ruling for so many years, the Nasrid dynasty came to an end. In 1492, the last sultan, Muhammad XII, had to give Granada to Queen Isabella I of Castile. This was a really important moment because it meant there were no more Muslim rulers in Spain. It was the end of an era that lasted for centuries, changing the history of Spain forever.

Why We Still Talk About Them

Even though the Nasrid dynasty ended a long time ago, we still learn about them today. The Alhambra palace is a super important reminder of their time. It's like a history book made of stone and gardens! It tells us stories about their art, their buildings, and how people lived back then. It's a treasure from the past!
