Key Facts
Welcome to Mizoram!
Imagine a place tucked away in the mountains of India, like a secret garden! That's Mizoram! It's a state in northeastern India, and it's super green.
Most of Mizoram is covered in forests, more than 80% of it! That's like if your whole school playground was a giant forest. It shares borders with other countries, like Bangladesh and Myanmar, which is pretty cool.
The capital city is called Aizawl, and it's the biggest city there.
A Long, Long Time Ago...
People have lived in Mizoram for a very, very long time, even before the time of dinosaurs! Well, maybe not dinosaurs, but a long, long time ago, around 600 BC. People who spoke a language called Mizo came from nearby mountains and started living there.
They lived in villages and grew their food. Over many years, they all came together and became the Mizo people we know today. They have their own special language and traditions.
Forests and Food!
Mizoram is famous for its amazing green forests, which cover most of the land. This means there are lots of trees and plants! People there love to farm, and they grow lots of fruits and vegetables.
One special way they farm is called 'jhum', where they clear a small part of the forest to grow crops for a few years before letting the forest grow back. They also make wonderful things from bamboo, like baskets and even furniture!
Mizoram's Special People
The people of Mizoram are called Mizos, and they are known for being very friendly. Most people in Mizoram are Christian, and they celebrate holidays like Christmas with lots of joy. They also have many different groups of people living together, and they all speak different languages, but they use the Mizo language to talk to each other.
It's like everyone in your class speaking their own language but also knowing English to chat!
