Maurice (emperor)

Maurice was the emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire, a place that included lands around the Mediterranean Sea. Think of it like a giant kingdom that stretched across parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia. His main city was Constantinople, a super important place for trade and power. This empire was like a big puzzle with many different pieces, and Maurice was in charge of keeping it all together!

Before becoming emperor, Maurice was a brave general, like a superhero captain! He was so good at leading soldiers that the old emperor chose him to be his heir, which means he was next in line to be emperor. Maurice fought in many wars.
