Macedonia (Greece)

Imagine a big, beautiful part of Greece called Macedonia! It's in the very north of the country, like a giant puzzle piece. It's so big, it's the largest land area in all of Greece.

It has tall mountains that touch the sky and sparkling blue seas along its coast. Big cities, like Thessaloniki, are built right by the water, where boats can easily dock. It's a place with lots of sunshine and beautiful views!

A super long time ago, Macedonia was home to powerful kings, like Philip II and his son, Alexander the Great! Alexander was an amazing leader who conquered lands far and wide, becoming one of history's most famous warriors. His kingdom started right here in Macedonia.

You can still visit ancient places where they lived and ruled, like old castles and cities that are thousands of years old. It’s like stepping back in time!

People in Macedonia love to grow yummy food! They grow lots of fruits, vegetables, and olives. They also make things in factories and welcome visitors from all over the world to see their beautiful country.

The main city, Thessaloniki, is a bustling place with lots of shops and busy streets. It's a very important city for Greece, full of life and energy. People here are proud of their land and its history.

Macedonia is like a treasure chest of history! It has places called UNESCO World Heritage sites, which are super special. One is Aigai, where King Philip II was sadly killed and Alexander the Great became king.

Another is Pella, where Alexander the Great was born! You can also find Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle, a very smart philosopher. These places are like living museums, showing us how people lived long, long ago.
