How Luxor Governorate Got Its Name
This governorate is pretty new! It used to be part of a bigger area called Qena Governorate. But in 2009, the leader of Egypt at the time, President Hosni Mubarak, decided it was so special that it needed its own name and its own boss.
So, Luxor Governorate was born! It’s like when you get your own room in a house instead of sharing it with your siblings. This made Luxor a very important place all on its own.
