Building a Giant Empire

Kublai Khan was a super builder, but not of buildings! He built a massive empire. He was so powerful that he ruled over lands that are now China, Mongolia, and even parts of Korea. He wanted his empire to be even bigger, so he sent ships to try and conquer Japan, but that didn't quite work out. He was the first leader from outside China to rule all of China properly!

A Leader Like No Other

Did you know Kublai Khan had to fight his own brother to become the main leader? It's true! After his brother Möngke died, Kublai had to win a big fight to become the leader of everyone. He was a very determined leader and ruled for a long time, until he passed away on February 18, 1294. He made sure his empire was strong and organized.
