Meet the Super Palace of Knossos!
Knossos was a HUGE palace, like a city all by itself, on the island of Crete. It was built a super long time ago, even before the pyramids in Egypt! It had lots of rooms, colorful pictures on the walls called frescoes, and fancy plumbing to bring water in and take yucky stuff out. It was the most important place for the Minoan people.
Who Lived in This Giant House?
The Minoan people built and lived in Knossos. They were amazing artists and builders! They loved bulls and snakes, and you can see pictures of them everywhere in the palace. They were also great sailors and traded with other places. Imagine them wearing beautiful clothes and walking through these grand halls!
A Maze Fit for a Monster?
Knossos was so big and had so many rooms and hallways that some people thought it was like a maze! There's a famous story about a monster called the Minotaur that lived in a maze. While the Minotaur might be a myth, the palace itself was so complex it felt like a puzzle to explore.
