Giant Land of Wonders!

Kazakhstan is a super-duper big country, the ninth-largest in the whole world! It's so big that it’s mostly in Asia, but a tiny bit of it is even in Europe. It’s like a giant puzzle piece connecting different places. It doesn't touch any oceans, which makes it a 'landlocked' country. Think of it like a big playground with no gate to the sea!

Who Lives Here?

About 20 million people call Kazakhstan home. That sounds like a lot, but because the country is SO big, there's lots of space! It means there are fewer people per square mile than in many other places. Most people are ethnic Kazakhs, but there are also many Russians and other groups. They speak Kazakh and Russian, and many people celebrate Muslim traditions, while others are Christian.

Long, Long Ago!

People have lived in Kazakhstan for thousands and thousands of years! Ancient tribes rode horses across the plains, and later, mighty empires like the Mongols, led by Genghis Khan, came through. For a long time, it was part of the Russian Empire and then the Soviet Union. Finally, in 1991, Kazakhstan became its own independent country, like graduating to a bigger school!

What Do They Do?

Kazakhstan is rich in important stuff like oil and gas, which they sell to other countries. They also have lots of metals like iron and silver. This helps their economy grow. The capital city is Astana, a modern place, but the biggest and busiest city is Almaty, which used to be the capital. It's a place full of busy streets and interesting sights!
