The World's Tallest Peaks!

Imagine climbing to the very top of the world! Junko Tabei was a super brave adventurer from Japan. She loved mountains so much that she decided to climb the highest one on each of the seven continents. That's like visiting the tallest building in every country, but way, way harder! She was the first woman ever to do this incredible thing.

Everest: A Giant Mountain!

Her most famous climb was to the top of Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on Earth. It's so high, it's like stacking 200 giraffes on top of each other! Junko reached the summit, which means the very, very top, on May 16, 1975. This was a HUGE achievement and showed everyone that women could do anything they set their minds to.

Cleaning Up the Mountains!

Junko wasn't just a climber; she cared a lot about our planet. After her climbs, she noticed lots of trash left behind on Mount Everest. So, she organized special clean-up missions to make the mountains beautiful again. She also led trips for kids to climb Mount Fuji, another famous mountain in Japan, to help them feel strong.

A Star in the Sky!

Because Junko Tabei was so amazing, people wanted to honor her. An astronomer, who studies stars, found a new asteroid and named it '6897 Tabei' after her! That's a real rock flying through space named just for her. Also, a mountain range on the planet Pluto is now called 'Tabei Montes' to remember her incredible adventures.
