Hwaseong Fortress

Hwaseong Fortress is like a super-strong hug made of stone around a city! It's in a country called South Korea. Think of it as a giant, ancient playground wall, but much, much bigger and built to keep people safe. It has tall walls, big gates, and even a special palace inside where a king used to live. A long, long time ago, a king named Jeongjo built this amazing fortress. He wanted to honor his father, Prince Sado, who sadly passed away. The fortress was built super fast, in just two years! It's like building a whole school in the time it takes for summer vacation to end. This special place was built to remember and protect the prince's resting spot.

Hwaseong Fortress is so cool that people from all over the world think so too! It's like winning a gold medal in a global competition. It was chosen as a World Heritage site by a special group called UNESCO. This means it's a treasure for everyone on Earth, and we need to take care of it so people can see it for many, many years to come!

This fortress has lots of cool parts! There are four huge gates that look like giant mouths ready to welcome visitors. There are also special doors for water, called sluicegates, that help control the flow of a river that runs right through the middle of the fortress.
