Where is This Magical Place?

Guyana is a country tucked away on the northern coast of South America. It's like a secret hideout with a big blue ocean, the Atlantic, to its north. To the south, it has a giant neighbor called Brazil, and to the west is Venezuela. It's also part of the Caribbean, even though it's on the mainland! The capital city, Georgetown, is the biggest and busiest place there.

A Land of Water and Green

Guyana means 'Land of Many Waters,' and it's true! It has lots of rivers and streams. It's also home to a piece of the amazing Amazon rainforest, which is super big and full of all sorts of plants and animals. The land is mostly covered in green forests, making it a very special place for nature.

Who Lives in Guyana?

Lots of different people call Guyana home! Some have lived there for a very, very long time, like the nine indigenous tribes. Others came from places like India and Africa. Everyone speaks English, which is cool because it's the only country in mainland South America where English is the main language. They also have their own special way of speaking called Guyanese Creole.

A Country That's Growing!

Guyana is a pretty big country, but not too many people live there, so there's lots of space! Recently, people found lots of oil under the ocean near Guyana. This is making the country grow super fast, like a plant getting lots of sunshine and water. It's becoming a very important place for energy!
