Meet Golda, the Boss Lady!

Golda Meir was a very important person who became the leader of Israel, a country in the Middle East. She was like the captain of a big ship, guiding her country. She was the first and only woman to ever be the head of Israel's government! That's like being the principal of a giant school, but for a whole country!

From Far Away to a New Home

Golda was born a long, long time ago in a city called Kiev, which is now in a country called Ukraine. When she was a little girl, her family moved all the way across the ocean to the United States, to a city called Milwaukee. There, she became a teacher and learned about helping people work together.

Building a New Country!

Golda and her husband moved to a place called Mandatory Palestine, which is now Israel. She worked really hard to help build this new country. She was so good at her job that she helped make important decisions, like signing the paper that said Israel was a new country! She also helped people by being a minister of labor, making sure everyone had jobs and homes.

A Leader in Tough Times

Later, Golda became the Prime Minister of Israel. This was a very big job, especially when there were problems. She tried to make peace, but sometimes countries have disagreements. Even though she was a strong leader, some people were upset after a war. But she always tried her best to lead her country.
