Where the Mountains Touch the Sky!

Glacier National Park is like a giant playground in the sky, way up in northwestern Montana, right next to Canada! It's super big, covering more land than 1 million football fields. Inside, you'll find two huge mountain ranges that are part of the Rocky Mountains.

There are over 130 lakes that sparkle like diamonds, and so many plants and animals that scientists are still discovering new ones! It's called the 'Crown of the Continent' because it's so special and important.

Giants of Ice and Rock!

Millions of years ago, giant glaciers, like super-duper ice trucks, carved out this amazing place. They scraped the land, making deep valleys shaped like the letter 'U', and left behind piles of rocks that dammed up water to make the beautiful lakes. Some of these glaciers are so old, they have fossils of early life!

But guess what? The glaciers are melting. There used to be about 150 big ones, but now there are only 25.

Scientists think they might all be gone soon if it keeps getting warmer.

Home to Awesome Animals!

This park is like a giant zoo, but all the animals live free! You can find big, furry grizzly bears and black bears, and mountain goats that can climb super steep cliffs. There are also elk, moose, and even wolves and bobcats!

Lots of colorful birds fly around, and fish swim in the clear lakes. It's amazing how many different kinds of animals call this place home, from tiny butterflies to huge elk.

A Road to Adventure!

To help people see all this beauty, a special road called the Going-to-the-Sun Road was built. It's like a super-long, winding path that takes you right through the heart of the park, over high mountains. It was a really hard job to build, but now people can drive and see amazing views.

There are also old hotels and buildings from a long time ago that are like stepping back in time. This park is a treasure for everyone to enjoy!
