Who Was This Awesome King?

Imagine a king who was two-thirds god and one-third human! That was Gilgamesh. He was a real king who lived a super long time ago in a city called Uruk. He was so strong and brave that people told amazing stories about him. These stories were written down on clay tablets, like ancient text messages! He was a legendary hero, like a superhero from history!

Adventures with a Wild Friend!

Gilgamesh wasn't always alone on his quests. He made a best friend named Enkidu, who was like a wild man, strong and brave too. Together, they went on exciting journeys. They fought a giant monster named Humbaba, who had a scary roar. They also battled a giant Bull of Heaven that was sent to stop them. These adventures were so cool, they became famous stories!

Searching for Forever Life!

After his friend Enkidu got sick and passed away, Gilgamesh got scared. He didn't want to die too! So, he went on a long and difficult journey to find a wise old man named Utnapishtim. Utnapishtim had lived through a giant flood and knew a secret to living a very, very long time. But finding the secret was super hard, and Gilgamesh couldn't get it.

Stories That Last Forever!

Even though Gilgamesh couldn't find forever life for himself, his stories have lasted forever! People found his adventures written on clay tablets, and they are some of the oldest stories ever written. They are even older than the stories of the Greek heroes like Hercules! These tales teach us about friendship, bravery, and what it means to be human.
