French Guiana: A Tropical Treasure in South America!

French Guiana is like a secret hideout on the very top of South America! It’s a part of France, but it’s not in Europe. It’s surrounded by big countries like Brazil and Suriname. Most of French Guiana is covered in a super-duper thick rainforest, so green and alive! It’s a very special place because it’s the only part of mainland America that still belongs to a European country.

Even though French Guiana is as big as a small country, not many people live there. Most of the people, about half of them, live in the capital city called Cayenne. That’s like if everyone in your whole town lived in just one neighborhood! The rest of the land is mostly wild rainforest, with trees so tall they tickle the clouds. It’s home to lots of amazing animals and plants.

Guess what? French Guiana has a special place called the Guiana Space Centre. This is where France and other European countries send their rockets into space! It’s super cool because it’s right near the middle of the Earth, which is the best spot for launching rockets. So, you have amazing nature on one side and amazing science on the other!

Even though it’s in South America, French Guiana is part of France. This means they use the same money as France, called the euro, and speak French too! But they also have their own special language called French Guianese Creole. It’s like having two homes, one in a faraway jungle and one in Europe!
