Hans Christian Andersen was a super famous writer from Denmark, a country far away! He was born a long, long time ago, in 1805. Even though he wrote many kinds of stories, poems, and even plays, he is most famous for his amazing fairy tales. Hans Christian Andersen wrote 156 fairy tales! That's a LOT of stories. Some of his most famous ones are 'The Little Mermaid,' where a mermaid wants to be human, and 'The Ugly Duckling,' about a bird who doesn't look like his brothers and sisters but grows up to be beautiful.
He also wrote 'The Emperor's New Clothes,' about a king who thinks he's wearing fancy clothes that no one can see! These stories are translated into over 125 languages, so kids all over the world can read them.
