Key Facts
Where is Sussex?
Sussex is a special place in the southeast of England, right by the big, blue English Channel! It’s like a long stretch of coastline, about as long as 220,000 school buses parked end-to-end. To the north, it has neighbors like Surrey and Kent, and to the west is Hampshire. It’s a place with sunny beaches and rolling hills, perfect for exploring!
A Kingdom Long Ago!
A super long time ago, Sussex was a kingdom ruled by kings! It started around 1,500 years ago, way before castles and knights were even common. The people who lived there were called the South Saxons. Later, it became part of a bigger kingdom called England. Think of it like a small playground that joined a much bigger school!
Fun Things to See and Do!
Sussex has amazing places like Brighton and Hove, a lively city by the sea with lots of fun things to do. There are also beautiful natural parks, like the South Downs, which are like giant green carpets for picnics and walks. And don't forget Chichester Harbour, a lovely spot for boats and birds. It’s a place full of natural wonders!
Sussex Today!
Even though it’s now split into East and West Sussex, people still think of it as one big area. They even have a special day called Sussex Day to celebrate its history and culture! Soon, the leaders of East and West Sussex and Brighton and Hove will work together even more, like a super team making decisions for everyone.
