Where Did They Meet?

These important meetings happened mostly in a city called Philadelphia. Think of it like the main playground where all the big decisions were made! The main building they used is now called Independence Hall.

It's a very old and special place where history was written. Sometimes, when things got a little too noisy or dangerous because of a war, they had to move their meeting to different towns for a little while.

Why Did They Get Together?

The people in America, called colonies, were not happy with the King of England. He was making them pay lots of money and not letting them have a say. So, they decided to have a big meeting to talk about it. The first meeting tried to fix things, but the second one decided it was time to be brave and become their own country, the United States of America!

Who Were These Big Thinkers?

The people who went to these meetings were called delegates. They were like the class representatives, but for whole colonies! Many of them were very experienced and had been leaders in their own towns before. One very famous delegate was George Washington, who later became the first president. They were all super smart and worked hard to figure out what was best for everyone.

What Did They Do?

These meetings were like the first government for America! They decided to stop buying things from England to show they were serious. They even created an army and picked George Washington to lead it. Most importantly, they wrote the Declaration of Independence, which said, 'We are free!' This was a super brave and important step for the new country.
