Cape Arkona, Rügen

Key Facts
Meet the Giant Cliffs!
Imagine a super tall cliff, as high as a 15-story building, right by the sea! That's Cape Arkona in Germany. It's on a big island called Rügen and sticks out into the blue ocean.
It's not just dirt and rocks; it's a special place with amazing views. Sometimes, the cliffs crumble down, especially when it's cold and icy, making the coastline change a little bit over time. It's a wild and beautiful spot where land meets sea!
Old Temples and New Towers
Long, long ago, people built a special temple fortress here called Jaromarsburg. It was a very important place for them! Today, you can still see the spot where it was.
Now, there are two tall lighthouses that shine bright lights to help boats find their way. There's also a tower for watching and even old underground rooms called bunkers. It’s a mix of ancient history and modern helpers for ships!
Not Quite the Farthest North!
People sometimes say Cape Arkona is the very northernmost tip of Rügen island. But guess what? It's not!
Just a little bit to the side, there's another spot that's even further north. Right at the bottom of that spot is a HUGE rock, so big it weighs as much as 100 cars! This giant rock is called Siebenschneiderstein.
So, while Cape Arkona is super far north, there's a tiny bit of land that beats it!
A Super Popular Place!
Lots and lots of people love visiting Cape Arkona. Every year, about 800,000 people come to see the cliffs, the towers, and the ocean. That's like filling up a giant stadium many, many times!
There's a cute little fishing village nearby called Vitt, and the whole area is protected to keep it beautiful. You can find yummy places to eat and shops to buy souvenirs. It's a favorite vacation spot for many!
