Białowieża Forest

Białowieża Forest is a HUGE forest that sits right on the border between two countries, Poland and Belarus. It's like a giant green blanket stretching across the land. It's so big, it's hard to see the end of it!

This forest is one of the last places in Europe that still looks like it did hundreds and hundreds of years ago, before lots of cities and towns were built. It’s a special place for nature and animals.

The most famous animal living in Białowieża Forest is the European bison. These are the biggest and heaviest land animals in all of Europe! They are super strong and look a bit like a fluffy cow with big horns.

Imagine an animal that weighs as much as a small car – that’s a bison! There are over 800 of them living safely in this forest, munching on grass and leaves. They are truly amazing creatures to see.

This forest is so special that important people from all over the world have decided to protect it. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which means it's recognized as a treasure for everyone on Earth. Think of it like a super-duper important playground that we all need to take care of.

It’s also part of a special nature program called Natura 2000, making sure all the plants and animals have a safe home.
