Béchar Province

Béchar Province is a super big place in the country of Algeria, way down in the sandy Sahara Desert. It's so big that it touches the country of Morocco! Even though it's enormous, it's like a giant playground with very few kids.

Only about 2 people live in each square kilometer, which is like having only one or two friends in a whole soccer field! The biggest and busiest town there is called Béchar.

Béchar Province is the second least crowded place in all of Algeria. Think about your school bus – it can hold lots of kids! Now imagine a place so big that if you put all the people who live there on school buses, they wouldn't fill them up!

In 2019, there were about 353,591 people. That sounds like a lot, but when you spread them out over such a huge area, it's very, very empty. It’s mostly desert, which means lots of sand and sunshine!
