Aram-Damascus

Aram-Damascus was a kingdom a long, long time ago, nestled in a sunny place called the Southern Levant. Think of it like a special playground in the desert! Its main city was Damascus, which is still a real city today.

It was surrounded by other lands, like neighbors on a street. To the north was Assyria, to the south was Ammon, and to the west was Israel. It was a busy neighborhood of ancient kingdoms!

The name Aram-Damascus is special because it's mostly found in an old book called the Hebrew Bible. Sometimes, people just called it Aram or Damascus. It's like having a nickname!

In other old writings, like from Assyria, they called it Damascus or even gave it funny names like 'his donkey' or 'house of Hazael'. These names tell us that people knew this place very well and had different ways of talking about it.

Life in Aram-Damascus was very different from today! People lived in and around the big city of Damascus. They probably grew food in the sunny lands and traded with their neighbors.
