Meet the Mighty Allosaurus!

Get ready to meet Allosaurus, a super-sized dinosaur that lived a long, long time ago! This awesome creature was a meat-eater, which means it loved to hunt other dinosaurs. It had a big head with lots of sharp teeth, perfect for chomping.

Allosaurus was one of the biggest predators of its time, like the king of the dinosaurs in its neighborhood! It walked on two strong legs and had a long tail to help it balance as it ran.

Where Did This Dino Roam?

Allosaurus didn't live everywhere! It called North America and Europe home, way back during the Late Jurassic period. That's over 150 million years ago!

Imagine a world filled with different kinds of dinosaurs, and Allosaurus was one of the top hunters. It probably lived in places that were warmer and wetter than today, with lots of plants for the plant-eating dinosaurs to munch on, and plenty of prey for Allosaurus to chase.

Allosaurus's Super Size!

This dinosaur was HUGE! Allosaurus could grow up to 30 feet long, which is about as long as three school buses parked end-to-end. It could stand as tall as a two-story house, and it weighed as much as a small elephant! Its jaws were powerful, and its teeth were like sharp knives, perfect for tearing into its meals. It had three claws on each hand, which were probably used to grab onto its prey.

What's for Dinner?

Allosaurus was a carnivore, meaning it ate meat. Its favorite meals were probably other dinosaurs that were smaller or weaker than it. Scientists think it might have hunted dinosaurs like Stegosaurus, which had plates on its back, or even young Apatosaurus.

It was a very important part of its ecosystem, helping to keep the populations of other dinosaurs in check. It was a true hunter of the ancient world!
