2010: A Year of Big Events!

Imagine a year that started on a Friday, just like some of your school weeks! That was 2010. It was the very first year of the 2010s decade, like the first day of a brand new playground.

This year was special because it was the 2010th year since Jesus was born, and it was the 10th year of the 3rd thousand years and the 21st century. Think of it as a big number that marks a fresh start for lots of things!

Sometimes, our planet likes to remind us it's super powerful! In 2010, there were some HUGE earthquakes. One in Haiti was so strong it felt like the ground was dancing! There was also a big accident where oil spilled into the ocean, which was very sad for the sea animals. But guess what? A big sickness called swine flu that was around before, finally went away that year. Hooray!
