1984 Summer Olympics

In 1984, a super exciting party called the Summer Olympics happened in sunny Los Angeles, California! It was like the biggest sports day ever, with athletes from many countries coming to show off their amazing skills. They ran, jumped, swam, and played all sorts of games. This was the second time Los Angeles got to host these awesome games, and it was a really big deal!

Lots of countries sent their best athletes, which was great! But, some countries decided not to come. This happened because some countries had a disagreement from a few years before. Even though some friends stayed home, over 140 countries still showed up to compete. The United States team did the best, winning the most shiny gold medals!

Guess what? The 1984 Olympics were super successful and made a lot of money! This was because they used buildings that were already there, like a cool stadium, instead of building new ones. They also got help from big companies. They made over $250 million, which is a LOT of money, and it showed everyone how to put on a great Olympics!

Years later, people still remember how much fun the 1984 Olympics were. They even had a special party to celebrate 25 years since the games! Some of the athletes who won medals came back to light the Olympic fire again. And guess what? Los Angeles is going to host the Summer Olympics AGAIN in 2028, making it the third time!
