Zalmay Khalilzad

Zalmay Khalilzad is a very important person who works as a diplomat. Think of a diplomat like a super-smart messenger who travels the world to help countries talk to each other and solve problems. He was born a long time ago, in 1951, in a country called Afghanistan.

Later, he came to America as a student and became a citizen. He has worked for the U.S. government for many years, helping leaders make big decisions about other countries.

Zalmay Khalilzad started his journey in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan. When he was a teenager, he came to the United States as an exchange student, like you might see on TV! He studied really hard and went to college, even getting a special high-level degree.
