Walter Sisulu

Imagine a super brave person who wanted everyone to be treated fairly. That was Walter Sisulu! He was a leader in South Africa who worked hard to stop unfair rules called apartheid.

He was part of a group called the African National Congress (ANC) that wanted to make things right for all people. Walter was a very important friend to other leaders like Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo, and together they made big plans to help their country.

Walter Sisulu was born a long, long time ago, in 1912. He grew up in a time when some people were treated very badly just because of their skin color. Walter couldn't stand that!

He joined the ANC when he was young and helped start a special group called the ANC Youth League to get young people involved. He was so good at organizing things that he helped plan big peaceful protests, like the Defiance Campaign, where people bravely stood up against unfair laws.

Walter Sisulu was so dedicated to fighting for freedom that he was put in prison for many years. He spent over 25 years on a famous island called Robben Island, which is like being away from home for longer than you've been alive! Even though he was locked up, he never gave up his dream of a fair South Africa.

He was known as 'Accused No. 2' in a big court case called the Rivonia Trial because he was so important in the fight against apartheid.

Walter Sisulu is remembered because he was a true hero who believed in equality and justice for everyone. He showed incredible courage by standing up against powerful unfair systems, even when it meant going to jail. His hard work and dedication helped change South Africa for the better, making it a place where everyone has a chance to be treated with respect.

His story teaches us that one person can make a huge difference!
