Key Facts
Where is Victoria?
Imagine Australia as a big puzzle piece. Victoria is a smaller piece in the very bottom corner, on the southeast side! It's like the toe of Australia's boot. To its north is a bigger state called New South Wales, and to its west is South Australia. The big, blue ocean surrounds the rest of Victoria, with waves crashing on its shores. It's a place with sunny coasts and sometimes chilly mountains!
A Land of Many Faces
Victoria is like a chameleon because its land changes a lot! In the northeast, there are tall mountains called the Victorian Alps, perfect for playing in the snow. But if you go to the northwest, it gets much drier and sunnier, like a desert.
The middle part of Victoria is where most people live, especially around a big bay called Port Phillip. This is where the capital city, Melbourne, is located. It has everything from beaches to forests!
Gold Diggers and Big Cities!
A long, long time ago, people discovered gold in Victoria! This made lots of people rush there to find it, like a treasure hunt. This helped Victoria grow super fast.
Now, it's home to over 7 million people, making it the second most crowded state in Australia. The biggest city is Melbourne, which is so large it's like having lots of towns all joined together. It's a busy place with lots of fun things to see and do!
Who Lives in Victoria?
