Vesna Vulović

Vesna Vulović was a flight attendant, which means she helped people on airplanes. One day, her plane, JAT Flight 367, had a big problem! An explosion made the plane break apart high in the sky. Vesna fell an incredible distance, like falling from the top of a super tall skyscraper, but much, much higher! She was the only person on the plane who survived this amazing and scary event.

How far did Vesna fall? It was about 10 kilometers, which is more than 6 miles! That's like walking from your school to the park, but falling down instead of walking. She fell from so high up, it's like falling from the clouds! Even though she was hurt, she was incredibly strong and survived this unbelievable fall without a parachute.

After her fall, Vesna was in the hospital for a long time. She had broken bones and was even temporarily unable to move her legs. But she got better and better! People called her a hero because she was so brave. Even though she had a little limp, she didn't let it stop her. She even went back to work, though not on planes because everyone wanted to talk to her!

Vesna Vulović's story is amazing because she survived something most people wouldn't. She showed incredible courage and strength.
