Vajiralongkorn

Imagine a king who is in charge of a whole country called Thailand! That's King Vajiralongkorn, also known as Rama X. He was born a long, long time ago, on July 28, 1952.

He is the son of the previous king, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and Queen Sirikit. When he was 20 years old, his dad made him a crown prince, which is like being next in line to be king. He became the king when he was 64 years old, which is quite old to start a new job!

When King Bhumibol Adulyadej passed away, Vajiralongkorn was sad and wanted to wait to become king. He officially became king on December 1, 2016. But the government said his reign, or the time he's been king, actually started on the day his father died, October 13, 2016.

It was like a special party to celebrate him becoming king that lasted for three whole days in May 2019. He is the tenth king in his family's line, called the Chakri dynasty.

Did you know that King Vajiralongkorn is the richest king in the whole world? Wow! He has so much money and so many things that it's hard to count. People think he has between 30 billion and 70 billion US dollars. That's more money than you can even imagine! It's like having enough toys to fill a giant playground, and then some!

Being a king means you have a very important job. King Vajiralongkorn is the leader of Thailand. He helps make big decisions for the country and its people. He is also a symbol of Thailand, like a superhero for the nation. His family has been kings for a very long time, and he continues that tradition. He is a very important person for Thailand and its history.
