Václav Havel: The Playwright Who Became President!

Václav Havel was born a long, long time ago, in 1936, in a beautiful city called Prague in the country of Czechoslovakia. His family lived in a big, fancy house, but then things changed. When he grew up, he became a famous writer, creating plays that made people think.

Because so many people believed in Václav and his ideas for freedom, he was chosen to be the President of Czechoslovakia! Later, his country split into two, and he became the first President of the new country of the Czech Republic. He was like the captain of a ship, guiding his country towards a brighter future where everyone could be free to share their thoughts and dreams.
