Turtle Ship

Have you ever seen a turtle? They have a hard shell to protect them! Well, a long, long time ago, Korean sailors built a special kind of warship that looked a bit like a turtle. It had a strong roof, like a shell, to keep the sailors safe. These amazing boats were called Turtle ships, and they were super important for protecting Korea from enemies who sailed in on other ships.

These cool Turtle ships were first used by Korean sailors many, many years ago, starting around the 1400s. That's even before your grandparents' grandparents were born! They sailed alongside other Korean boats called panokseon.

Together, they were like a super team, fighting off enemy ships from Japan that tried to invade Korea. The Turtle ship was a clever invention that helped Korea stay safe for a very long time.
