Tigray Region

Imagine a place way up north in Ethiopia, like the top of a map! That's Tigray! It's like a big puzzle piece bordered by Eritrea on one side, and other parts of Ethiopia called Amhara and Afar on the others. Its biggest and busiest city is called Mekelle. It's a place with tall mountains and wide-open spaces, perfect for exploring!

Most people in Tigray are farmers, which means they grow yummy food like grains and vegetables. They work hard on the land, especially in the hilly parts. Tigray is home to the Tigrayan, Irob, and Kunama people. They speak a language called Tigrinya, which sounds a bit like music! Almost everyone there is Christian, and they have beautiful churches.

Tigray has some super cool landscapes! There are high mountains that touch the sky and lower lands that stretch out far. People have lived here for a very, very long time, making it a place full of history and ancient stories. It's like a giant playground with lots of secrets to uncover!

Just like your school has a principal, Tigray has leaders who help run things. There's a president who is like the main boss, and other important people who help make decisions. They work together to make sure everything runs smoothly in this special region of Ethiopia.
