Meet the Sunda Kingdom!

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, there was a special place called the Sunda Kingdom. It was in a part of the world called Java, which is like a big island in Indonesia. This kingdom was home to people called the Sundanese, and they had their own unique ways of life. They believed in a religion called Hinduism, and their leaders were kings who ruled with wisdom.

Kings and Queens of the Past!

The Sunda Kingdom lasted for a very, very long time, from around the year 669 until about 1579. That's longer than your grandparents' grandparents have been alive! The kings moved their capital, which is like the main city, around to different spots.

Sometimes it was in the east, and sometimes in the west. The most famous king was Sri Baduga Maharaja, and people remember his time as super peaceful and happy.

Where Did They Live?

The Sunda Kingdom was a huge place! It covered areas that are now called Banten, Jakarta, West Java, and even parts of Lampung and Central Java. Imagine a kingdom so big it could fit many of today's cities inside it! Its borders stretched to rivers that acted like natural fences, keeping everything safe and sound within its lands.

What Made Them Special?

The Sunda Kingdom was special because it was a thriving Hindu kingdom in a part of the world that later became mostly Muslim. They had their own stories and traditions that made them unique. The time of King Sri Baduga Maharaja was a golden age, a period of great peace and prosperity, showing how well they could live together.
