Where is Banten?

Banten is like the very tip of a giant's finger pointing west on the island of Java in Indonesia. It's surrounded by water on three sides: the big, blue Indian Ocean to the south and the Java Sea to the north. On the west, it's separated from another island called Sumatra by a narrow stretch of water called the Sunda Strait.

It's a busy place, with lots of people living there, almost like a giant playground with millions of friends!

A Land of Old and New!

Long, long ago, Banten was home to ancient kingdoms, like the Tarumanagara kingdom. Later, brave traders from far away, like the Portuguese, British, and Dutch, sailed to Banten. They wanted to trade spices and other goods.

For a long time, the Dutch had a lot of control, but eventually, Banten became its own special province in Indonesia in the year 2000. It's a place where old stories meet new adventures!

What Do People Do There?

Many people in Banten work hard to make things and help the economy grow. Some areas are super busy with lots of buildings and people, especially near the big cities. Other parts are more traditional, with people living closer to nature. They grow food and make crafts. It's a mix of busy city life and quieter village life, all happening in one amazing place.

Meet the Leaders and Learners!

Banten has its own leaders who help make important decisions for the province, kind of like a principal in a school. The capital city, where the main government buildings are, is called Serang. And just like you go to school to learn new things, people in Banten also go to schools and universities to get smarter and learn new skills. Education is super important for everyone there!
