Where is This Big Place?

The Somali Region is a super-duper large area in the eastern part of Ethiopia, a country in Africa. It's so big, it's the second largest region there! It's like a giant puzzle piece touching lots of other puzzle pieces.

To the west, it meets the Afar and Oromia regions. To the north, it says hello to Djibouti. To the northeast, it's neighbors with Somaliland, and to the east and south, it's close to Somalia.

And way down to the southwest, it touches Kenya! The main city, where the leaders work, is called Jijiga.

What's It Like There?

This region is mostly dry and sunny, with lots of open land. Think of wide-open spaces where you can see for miles! It's not usually super cold, but it can get quite warm.

There are many different kinds of landscapes, from flat plains to rolling hills. Sometimes, you might see dry riverbeds that only fill up when it rains a lot. It's a place where nature is very important, and the land shapes how people live and what they do.

Who Lives Here and What Do They Do?

Many people call the Somali Region their home! They have their own special languages and traditions that have been passed down for a very, very long time. They are known for being strong and resilient.

People here often work with animals, like raising sheep and goats, or they might farm the land when there's enough water. They also trade with their neighbors, sharing goods and ideas. It's a place with a rich culture that makes it unique.

How is it Run?

Just like other big places, the Somali Region has its own way of being managed. There's a leader called the President who is in charge of the executive part, like the boss of a big team. Then there's a group of people who make the rules, called the State Council.

And to make sure everything is fair, there's a special court, the State Supreme Court, that helps solve problems. This system helps keep everything organized and running smoothly for everyone living there.
